Planet Positive: A Journal for the Eco-Optimist by Lola Fernandez is a journal that discusses various healthy practices that can help to improve our environment and our personal choices and also suggests eco-friendly solutions to protect our planet. It touches on topics like setting goals, waste reduction, making intentional choices, being conscious of our home energy consumption, food choices, the degrading effects of plastics, and self-assessment quizzes to estimate one’s current carbon footprint. It is structured into months and weeks, with different checklists and notepads for documenting one's progress while inculcating these values about sustainable living.
I fell in love with this book from the start. Considering the impact of human activities on our planet, such as drought, global warming, flooding, and more, I would wholeheartedly recommend Planet Positive to readers who are passionate about protecting our planet. I must commend Lola Fernandez for joining the advocacy for a safe, sustainable, and greener planet through environmental education. This book is unique because it goes beyond awareness to provide an action plan that allows readers to set their goals, identify current habits, track their habits, and adopt alternative, environmentally safe practices. I loved the additional resources included in this book, which allow readers access to more relevant information about the context of this journal. I like the stylish fonts, the skillful use of nature’s colors, and the inspiring quotes; all of these make Planet Positive engaging and fun to read. This book made me more conscious about how my lifestyle could impact planet Earth.
