Porchlight by P.S. Glyckherr is an inspiring book of poetry that shares how the beautiful joys as well as the deep sorrows of life are always accompanied by God’s steadfast and loving presence. Drawing from her own experiences, Glyckherr addresses love, hardships, and change with honesty and vulnerability. One of the first poems, “The Orphan,” recounts a painful abandonment early in life, and a later poem, “Aging with Grace,” acknowledges the wisdom and light-heartedness that can be found with aging. Throughout, there are poems about the deep bonds of family and the power of an unwavering faith. Everyday moments, such as dealing with the stress of travel, along with experiences of profound personal loss, are illustrated in the context of God’s constant guidance, mercy, and care.

Porchlight is an insightful and uplifting collection. These heartfelt poems beautifully convey the strength and comfort God endlessly provides throughout every stage of life. Readers will be encouraged and heartened by P.S. Glyckherr’s resilience and hope as she relies on God’s continuing support and direction. One of my favorite poems in the collection is “The 'Piece' Maker,” which reads as a loving tribute to the selfless and compassionate care her grandmother provided. This hopeful book of poetry can be enjoyed in one sitting or picked up and read as needed for solace and guidance. Reading this book feels like a caring friend wants you to understand that God is always there for you and wants only the best for you. This is a highly recommended read.
