Princesses and Mermaids: A Taryn and Kevin High Seas Adventure by Terry Boucher is an adventurous picture book for children. Who are these kind strangers? And where did they take Taryn and Prince Kevin? Find out in Princesses and Mermaids: A Taryn and Kevin High Seas Adventure.

Princesses and Mermaids was a pleasure to read. Children are going to love this wonderfully adventurous book by the talented Terry Boucher. It is full of mystery, princes, princesses, and even mermaids! The storyline is well-thought-out and will entertain young readers with a passion for fantasy. The writing is captivating and will have the reader eager to turn to the next page. I loved every word written in this beautifully created book and I know it will be a huge success among children. Keep up the good work, Terry Boucher. I can't wait to read the next book!

Taryn and Prince Kevin's adventure begins with a mission. They are in Jabalia, where, along with Taryn's brother James, they have to conclude a new trade partnership with the ruler of Jabalia, King Kiato. This mission is also an opportunity for Taryn to prove that she can represent the crown properly if Kevin decides to marry her. At the end of the mission, Taryn and Kevin return home, but unfortunately, their ship is attacked by pirates. Both fall into the water, but mermaids and mermen save them. Will our two protagonists manage to return home? And who are the mermaids, really? Princesses and Mermaids by Terry Boucher is the book to read to find out.

Some stories stand out for the writer's creativity and for the sympathy that the characters arouse. This is what happens with Princesses and Mermaids. A beautiful couple like Taryn and Prince Kevin, an unexpected event that can prove fatal along the way back, sea creatures with their own story to tell, and many other great characters and beautiful illustrations are the ingredients of this book. Any young reader who reads it will love this world and happily follow the characters to the end to discover all about them. In particular, Terry Boucher gives a very original explanation of who the mermaids and mermen are, and I am sure no one will be able to guess it if they do not read it. I recommend Princesses and Mermaids to all young readers who love to dream with fantastic characters.

Princesses and Mermaids: Taryn and Kevin High Seas Adventure forms part of a series by Terry Boucher. Following their important trade mission to the foreign nation of Jabalia, Prince Kevin is warned that pirates are controlling the seas. Taryn is worried about their journey home, but she must leave her new friends behind and join the others on their dangerous journey back to Athanasia. Sure enough, they are attacked by pirates, and a terrible fate awaits Taryn and Prince Kevin as they are thrown overboard in the attack. They are rescued unexpectedly by underwater beings that they presume to be mermaids. Taryn and Prince Kevin are taken to their homes within the caves far beneath the surface of the water, where they learn about a forgotten land that has been hidden for generations.

Princesses and Mermaids is a short chapter book that contains beautiful illustrations, but I think an alternate publication of this story could easily present it as a picture book with even more of the amazing artwork. Terry Boucher has created an installment within the series that picks up where the previous book left off but is still easy to follow without having read the earlier books. I imagine that elementary grade readers would enjoy this story, or teachers could read it aloud in a few days. I would love to read more books in the series to see what happened before their pirate adventure and to learn what awaits them next.
