Rascally Raccoon Riot by Max Parrott is the ninth book in the Ruff McPaw Mysteries. Angela anxiously awaits the arrival of a traveling antique show, but she should have expected that the day would end in tragedy. The auctioneer’s body is quickly discovered, leading the police to suspect his shady past, while she’s drawn into a mystery that uncovers a connection to forgery. With Ruff's help, she learns that the missing antique everyone is worried about is fake, and the real one may provide her with the clues she needs to track down a killer. The last thing she expected was help from a persistent raccoon who had a surprising connection to the case.
Angela’s mystery adventures continue as she and Ruff tackle another tough case. Each new installment in the series brings a new adorable animal and more hijinks that are humorous, clever, and unexpected. The dynamic between Angela and Ruff continues to be wholesome and endearing, taking you along for whatever sleuthing mischief they’ll be up to. There are several references throughout about the duo being good at stirring up trouble, which is a clever way to sum up the fun that Max Parrott captures with them. This is successfully achieved by incorporating Ruff’s perspective into the story, making him feel like a full-fledged character and elevating his importance to that of Angela's. These also add humorous moments, such as his annoyance at wearing a vest, and provide her with a loving, supportive partner who always encourages her to keep going. Parrott delightfully captures how a dog would think with internal comments that never fail to bring a smile to your face. The story delves into the world of antiques and forgeries, offering something new for them to explore and investigate. The mystery follows the same formula as the previous ones, with twists, turns, a central animal, and fast-paced events. You’ll have fun following the investigation and enjoy every turn as you reach a satisfying conclusion. Angela and her trusty sidekick offer another fun-filled adventure in Rascally Raccoon Riot, which takes you into a world of antiques and forgery with a duo that knows the right ways to stir up trouble.
