Realm FM by Tyrolin Puxty is a romantic comedy with a science fiction twist. Amy has just been fired from her job at the radio station for cursing on the air. Struggling to support herself and her sister as they pursue success and fame in the United States, Amy is ready to give up and move back to Australia. As a last resort, she takes a job with her sister’s ex, Ryan, at a station that doesn’t even broadcast locally. As it turns out, Realm FM is way more than your basic station, broadcasting across an infinite number of universes. To secure her new job, Amy must pass several trials that test way more than her abilities to make conversation on the radio; her physical and mental survival is also at stake as she experiences the other realms for herself. It doesn’t help that the Sasquatch realm has now declared her their enemy, and Ryan might be more than just her co-host.
It has been a while since a story made me laugh as much as Realm FM. Tyrolin Puxty has taken a popular science fiction theme – the multiverse – and turned it into an original, fast-paced read that is somehow both comedic and terrifying at the same time. As Amy delves deeper into the unknown worlds that she encounters through Realm FM, surprising twists and turns arise that are shocking, yet hilarious. Amy herself is quite funny and relatable, and it’s difficult to step away from her humorous thoughts for even a moment. I look forward to reading more from this charming and witty author. I couldn't put this book down!
