Rescue: A Lesbian Romance by Juliette Renard is the story of two women who were lost in their own lives and found that they might be able to save each other. Virginia was taking a much-needed break from her fast-lane life as a successful actress and away from the drugs. She moves to a cabin in Wisconsin so that she can find herself again and recover as much as possible. One day when she finds a cute puppy outside her door, she comes across her enigmatic neighbor. Sage is a successful writer and she likes to keep to herself. These women have nothing in common, except the fact that they both have a dark past that seems to be holding them back. They find solace in each other, but something is preventing them from fully exploring what could be magical. Will they give love a chance?

This book was definitely something different from what I am used to reading. Virginia and Sage both have a past and they both are trying to fight their demons. I enjoyed how they took their relationship to be superficial, but they explored it. Even though these women had a hard time in life, they were ready to take a step in the right direction where they can heal the wounds of the past and hope for a better future. I enjoyed the intimacy they shared, the way they wanted to stick together and explore what could be theirs. I enjoyed the flow the most; it wasn’t hurried and the author allowed the characters to fully explore themselves before exploring the relationship. This is intense and simple entertainment at its best.
