Resurrection is the second book in the Beyond the Faery Rath series by Hanna Park. Estranged from her lover Colm, Calla finds herself in the faery realm, where her father Finvarra, the king of faeries, reveals her true destiny as one of the Triskele, with her sisters Nemain and Macha being the other two parts of the trio. After seven long years, Cirán is finally free of the Otherworld and tries to help Colm in his search for Calla. Colm, with the help of Ruairi, makes a deal with The Dark Lady. Meanwhile, Prince Balor of the Faery Kingdom of Ulaid has poisoned his mother to usurp her throne and now seeks to assassinate Finvarra and take over his kingdom. Calla is the only one who can stop him from acting on his nefarious plans.
From ancient gods to a host of otherworldly magical creatures, Resurrection has everything to make it an absolute treat for fantasy lovers. The lore of this world is simply fascinating. Author Hanna Park has crafted an intricately complex world full of magic, mystery, and wonder. Many factions are vying for power and control in this story, each with its own motivations that often clash with those of others. The characters have agency of their own and compelling story arcs that make you want to follow their journeys closely. I loved the arcs of Calla and Colm. As secondary characters, Ciarán and Saiorse also have important roles in the narrative. The plot is fast-paced and features twists and turns that keep pulling the rug out from under your feet. If you're a fan of dark fantasy romance, Beyond the Faery Rath is the perfect book series for you.
