Author Biography

S.W. Baylis, author of Reviving Us, is a proud Houston native and a devoted storyteller with a passion for crafting heartfelt tales of love and resilience. A graduate of the University of Houston, Baylis combines her professional background with her deep appreciation for romance to create stories that resonate with readers.
Now residing in the vibrant Washington, D.C. area with her husband and son, Baylis draws inspiration from her own journey between two dynamic cities. Her hopelessly romantic nature fuels her belief in the power of second chances and enduring connections—central themes that shine in her debut novel.
When she’s not writing, Baylis enjoys exploring the cultural richness of D.C., reminiscing about her Texas roots, and dreaming up new stories that celebrate love in all its complexities.

Reviving Us is the story of Jasmine Sanders, a high-powered professional who returns home for her career. Dealing with a boss who undermines her at every turn, she digs deep to push through even as past failures weigh heavily on her. Her return to Houston brings another face from her past, Marcus Johnson, the love she let get away. S.W. Baylis does a good job of painting the picture of Marcus’s reentry into Jasmine’s life. The spark of old feelings is reignited between them despite all the other things they have going on in their lives. This is an engaging second-chance romance that turns into a bit of a love triangle, adding to the drama.

S.W. Baylis has crafted a second-chance love story with Houston as the backdrop. The ties between Jasmine and Marcus go beyond their past romance, which only adds more complications to the story. I appreciated the layers of their connection and the way the characters grew throughout the novel, particularly Marcus, who needed to open up and learn to be vulnerable with Jasmine. I enjoyed watching the ups and downs of their relationship, and the unexpected bits of drama that enhanced the push and pull of their tentative reunion. The writing in Reviving Us is solid and descriptive, weaving together an engaging and entertaining second chance romance. This is one of my favorite romance tropes, and S.W. Baylis did a good job of bringing Jasmine and Marcus’ story to life.
