Ghyll's life was shattered when the castle that he had called home his whole life was attacked by mysterious beings and completely destroyed, killing everyone inside, including his dear uncle, the only relative he knew. In his uncle's safe, Ghyll found documents revealing that his uncle was actually not his blood relative but rather a mere trusted guardian. The safe also contained instructions sending him on a very long journey with no true purpose. In the company of his foster brother and a friend, he set out to fulfill the instructions in his uncle's letter; deliver letters to four people, each of whom would bring him closer to understanding the mystery that had become his life. Ghyll and his companions started on what would turn out to be the longest, most adventurous, most exciting and at the same time most dangerous journey of their lives, fighting countless relentless enemies with dark magic whose power knew no limits. But only after fulfilling his uncle's instructions would he know his true identity and take up his rightful place in a country that desperately needed leadership.
Shadow of The Revenaunt: Rhidauna by Paul E. Horsman is a compelling and fast paced fantasy story that takes you on a thrilling, action packed horseback adventure across a country filled with powerful magic, greed and treachery, and then remarkable friendships and loyalty. Paul E. Horsman created an exceptional plot that has two completely contrasting sides and characters that played into these sides perfectly to bring this incredible story to life. His descriptive writing style perfectly fits the intended mood of the story and vividly brings it to life, taking you to a different place and time as you follow Ghyll and his companions on their very challenging and equally exciting journey. I absolutely loved this page-turner and I cannot wait to get my hands on book 2.
