Where the Crane Lands by Vincent J. DeVito is an exciting adventure story about Lisa Blume, a young girl growing up. It starts on her fifth birthday when her father carves her name on a big oak tree and tells her to make a wish. Lisa was very happy and cherished the moment. The story then moves to her twelfth birthday, but things are not the way they used to be. Lisa's parents decide to cut down the forest for money, which leaves her feeling lonely, sad, and ignored. She grew up loving the forest and spending time there, which makes her want to save the forest. Lisa goes on an adventure to save the forest using her mother's book, Where the Crane Lands, as a guide. She believes the magical pond in the book is real and wants to find the pond to make a wish that the trees are not cut down. Along the way, she meets talking animals, gets lost, and meets danger, yet she remains relentless in wanting to save the forest.
This book is emotional and full of wonder. I could relate to Lisa's determination to save the forest and the way she felt about her family. Her pain of growing up, seeing what she loved about to fade away, and wanting to save it shows her bravery and strength. Kevin and Rose are two of my favorite characters. Kevin is funny and full of energy, while Rose is loyal and brave. The writing style is fun and detailed. The book shows real-life problems like parents not paying attention to their kids and the pain of losing something special. Where the Crane Lands is not just about magic; it shows how stories can hold memories, love, and hope. It will teach kids to be brave and stand up for what they believe in, even if no one else understands. I recommend Where the Crane Lands by Vincent J. DeVito for children, young readers, and adults who love books about nature and family, with action and magic.
