It had been three years since the fatal crash that changed twenty-two-year-old Marin Jackson’s life. She had lost Tyler, the love of her life, in the accident. Or so she was told. Now, Marin wakes up daily to the crushing weight of her loss. It troubled her that she could not even visit Tyler’s grave for closure. His parents had vanished without a trace after the accident. It all seemed very strange. When Adam Wyner is hurt hiking in the Catalina Mountains, Arizona, he is lucky Marin finds him and gets help. Grateful for her kindness, Adam wants to help Marin make sense of Tyler’s disappearance. He enlists the help of a family friend to look into aspects of the mystery. Is he ready for what he will discover? Find out in Alyssa Hall’s Romero Pools.

Hall unfolds the plot on a multi-perspective timeline, introducing me to a diverse, dynamic cast. The sharp, character-driven conversations, alongside introspective commentary, gave insight into the characters' conflicts. The depth of the narration allowed me to experience the characters’ emotions and made it easy to connect with them. I could relate to Adam’s longing to find answers for Marin for the sake of giving love a chance. The subtle tone of the storyline hooked me. I was kept turning page after page. I never saw the plot twists coming. The vivid depictions breathed life into the scenes. It felt like I was next to the cast in every scene, closely following their moves. Alyssa Hall’s Romero Pools is the right pick for lovers of mystery novels with a blend of contemporary romance.
