The timid and trusting Ruby doesn't want to believe Brad is having an affair with his assistant, Natasha, but reality hits hard. Brad and Natasha make Ruby move from her house. Her vengeance will be sophisticated and terrifying. Ruby teams up with her best friend, Dottie Mathews, and they start helping other unfairly wronged people. While reinventing herself, Ruby risks crossing the line between justice and malice. She attracts the attention of a cop named Clay Daniels, and their communication may turn into something more. Will Ruby find true love and her path in life?
A talented storyteller, Christine Gallagher, gives us a briskly paced page-turner. Ruby's Revenge is a highly entertaining read with hilarious twists and turns as Ruby and Dottie get creative while resolving painful situations. Gallagher offers a detailed exploration of an offended woman's decisions and behavior. This well-balanced novel urges us to think twice before taking revenge, even if our intentions are justified. The book motivates us to handle stressful circumstances with humor and a dose of self-irony. Gallagher adds a stirring element of family drama, examining Ruby's relationship with her mother, Penny, who refuses to take her problems seriously. A hint at romance between Ruby and Clay uplifts and gives hope to those brokenhearted. While the novel covers moral issues, the author's tone remains light and does not overwhelm us. A moment of truth for Ruby leads to a climactic ending.
