Run Rachael Run by Patricia Paris is a 'read-worthy' book which is well written with a credible plot. It is a treat for romance lovers and mystery lovers alike. The protagonist, Rachael, is a spirited individual who is attracted to the handsome detective, Eugene Simms, but refuses to accept it. When her past comes back to haunt her, she has no other option than to spill it all out to Eugene, for he is the one person who can help her. It's not just Rachael's past; Eugene's record as a detective also adds to the misery. Together, they embark on a life changing journey.
The chemistry between the lead characters was simply crackling. I thoroughly loved Rachael's character. She was feisty and independent to the right measure. Eugene is quintessential boyfriend material. The supporting characters – Rachael's best friend Abbie and her husband - also made a lasting impression, which is quite uncommon for a supporting character. The flawless characterization aided the plot very much in being cohesive. The romance and the suspense angle both blended seamlessly, making the book a pleasurable read. The plot line had its fair share of twists, thereby keeping the suspense element alive.
The writing was simply gripping. I couldn't put the book down. Patricia Paris has a wicked sense of humor. Both the leading characters were simply great and the tirade between them was highly entertaining. Nothing beats steamy romance with the right mix of humor. The book has all the ingredients in correct proportion, thereby making it perfect entertainment.
