Saddle Up Your Own White Horse purports five principles for “Every Woman.” The principles:
· “Creating your own happiness
· Two unique gifts
· Leadership
· Sticking together
· Confidence, Credit and Comfort”
This book offers some interesting advice for young single women. My basic criticism of this book would be “Every Woman.” Much of this book did not apply to me. Married couples should not have separate bank accounts. What happened to the “what’s mine is yours and yours is mine” idiom? I also found it sad that a woman would look at sex as a chore. The section “How Much Sex is Too Much” was troubling to me. Obviously, women with this problem have married the wrong man. “Ejaculation defrags a man’s hard drive.” That’s giving men little credit. “Frequent sex is not an exercise in futility but an exercise in relationship maintenance.” Shouldn’t a woman want to make love to her husband? I won’t go further in this topic other than to say the attitude purported for both men and women in this book seems off kilter. The short section on “Creating a Hero” was interesting and really should be common sense. I did not relate to “No Woman Is An Island,” my best friend is my husband. I do not want girls’ nights out. I want to spend as much time as possible with my “best friend.” He puts my needs first just as I put his first. It seems to me that we as a society have a mistaken definition of marriage. When you marry, you become one.
