Guess How Marion Feels is a children’s picture book written by Miss Kaye with illustrations by Miss Waitthk. The story follows Marion on his first day of school and asks readers to figure out his emotions in every scene. Marion wakes up excited about his first day of school, but the thought of meeting new people scares him. The moment he steps into his class, Marion is surprised by all the bright colors, toys, and art. He joins his classmates in a coloring task, but things do not go as planned, and Marion goes through different emotions throughout the day. Get a copy of this book and learn to read emotions by studying Marion’s expressions.

Guess How Marion Feels was refreshing to read because it was fun and had a unique concept. The book teaches children how to identify and handle emotions and lets children experience the first day of school from a fellow child's perspective. The author guides readers on what to notice on Marion’s face and from his body language, then asks them how he is feeling. I loved this idea because it is engaging and relatable. Children will compare their reactions to Marion’s and determine how they feel with different experiences. The book will help children develop their emotional and mental awareness and help them relate to others. Marion is an adorable character that many children will relate to and have fun getting to know. Adults and children will find familiarity in his reactions and see themselves through his eyes. The illustrations perfectly corresponded with the story, and the bright colors made the book visually appealing to read. I highly recommend parents and caregivers read this book with their children and teach each other how to recognize and control emotions.

Guess How Marion Feels is a children's picture book by Miss Kaye. Narrated by a cat, the book follows the story of a young boy named Marion. On this particular day, Marion wakes up feeling relaxed and rested. Then he remembers that today is his first day at school. Marion is scared as school is a new experience for him. When he arrives in class, he is surprised to see bright colors, art, and toys. Marion loves to draw and color, and soon he starts to sketch when, all of a sudden, he accidentally ruins his drawing. But his newfound friend Griffin offers to help him, and the two boys work together until Griffin colors a flower brown. Marion gently asks Griffin to choose a bright color, and Griffin agrees. This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Using vibrant illustrations and a cat as the narrator, Miss Kaye tells a heartfelt story of a young neurodivergent boy's adventures on his first day at school. Guess How Marion Feels isn't just a children's story but also an interactive guide for parents and teachers as it demonstrates how neurodivergent kids show different feelings and emotions and how to interact with them in those situations. While young readers will find the book entertaining, especially the friendship between Marion and Griffin, parents and teachers can learn to predict the behavior of neurodivergent children and ensure they feel happy and content. The artwork is simple yet so captivating, with bright colors bringing Marion's emotions and feelings to the surface. In conclusion, this is a fascinating picture book for both kids and their parents.

Guess How Marion Feels by Miss Kaye is a splendid book for children, as well as a remarkable exploration of emotions and how to identify them. Kaye's story and questions are designed to help children understand excitement, anger, happiness, and other emotions. The pictures are designed so that Marion's expressions are depicted clearly, creating an opportunity for readers to guess the protagonist's feelings. We see Marion being told that he will be going to school, entering his colorful classroom, and being instructed to paint a picture. Readers are carried along in the tale and follow Marion as he goes through various feelings. Guess How Marion Feels is structured to creatively enlighten children who are at the stage of starting school and making new friends.

I liked that the illustrations are quite expressive and engaging. For example, the page that shows Marion is relaxed includes a picture of him with his eyes closed and resting on a chair. Additionally, the book keeps the reader engaged with a consistent question that comes with every new emotion depicted, which is, "Can you guess how Marion feels?" The different emotions portrayed in Guess How Marion Feels are suitable for children and not too dramatic. Marion's story reflects what a child is likely to experience when starting school, including having a first drawing exercise and making new friends. Overall, the book is a crucial guide that teaches children how to behave in social gatherings, make friends, and become aware of their emotions. Miss Kaye's book is a captivating and example-rich story I hope children who need help with social situations will read.

In Guess How Marion Feels, young readers will learn how to recognize various emotions and how to put a name to those feelings. Author Miss Kaye and illustrator Miss Waitthk have collaborated to create a storyline that children can relate to – a little boy experiencing the first day of school – and have filled the pages with whimsical drawings and doodles that appeal to kids. The ten emotions covered are happy, scared, surprised, excited, angry, worried, relaxed, disgusted, hopeful, and joyful. The pages have a pleasant consistency in design, featuring round frames, speech bubbles, and a magnifying glass that takes the edge off the more difficult emotions. Parents and educators will appreciate the inclusion of niceties such as please, thank you, and you’re welcome, and the representation of diverse playmates.

Guess How Marion Feels covers important territory and can be a great resource for helping parents and teachers assist children in working through their feelings. Author Miss Kaye has a soothing style of writing that presents Marion’s first day of school, from waking up, feeling apprehension, walking to school with Mom, seeing the classroom for the first time, getting involved in activities, experiencing disappointment, getting assistance, achieving a goal, gaining a friend, and sharing it all with his family afterward. Miss Waitthk’s illustrations are simple and age-appropriate. Even the various ink colors contribute to the book’s appeal, with a rainbow font in the beginning, black ink used to describe each situation, and brown ink used to indicate the signs of each emotion. The narration is handled purr-fectly by Marion’s cat, CoCo!

Guess How Marion Feels is an interactive children's book by Miss Kaye. Marion wakes up excited about his first day of school, but he is nervous because he doesn't know what to expect when he gets there. After his mom walks him to class, Marion sees bright colors and his teacher announces art class. Then something happens during art class that upsets him, and Marion is faced with a strong negative feeling. As Marion summarizes his day for his father, he lists each event and his reaction to it. An orange cat prompts children to guess Marion's feelings about the new situation. Readers watch Marion's response to his perceptions of nervousness, happiness, excitement, surprise, anger, anxiety, relief, disgust, joy, and hopefulness and are encouraged to share their feelings with their parents.

Miss Kaye skillfully shows readers the range of emotions children may experience every day in a social setting. The interaction on each page keeps children involved in the story. By guessing the way Marion feels, children develop empathy and learn to define their emotions. Not only do young readers see Marion's feelings, but they view others' reactions to his emotions through the people around him and the orange cat. I can see caregivers reading the book with children the day before they start attending daycare or school. The story could also be shared in other social settings where children gather together, like libraries or churches. Readers will enjoy the bright illustrations and relatable situations and will benefit from reading Guess How Marion Feels.
