Author Biography

Gretchen Meyer, originally from Wisconsin, now lives in Florida where she never again has to worry about snow storms and shoveling – only hurricanes! She has a pet alligator (not really) but there is a big fellow who suns himself on the little island in the lake behind her home when it’s too cold to swim.
Writing came late to her but when she happened upon her first Regency novel she was hooked. They took her to another place and time, wonderful vocabulary, beautiful clothes and always handsome heroes. And no matter the terrors and problems that faced the characters, by the end of the book, the mysteries were solved, the lovers reunited and all was resolved. Ah, life should be so simple.

Orphaned at a young age, Juliana and her younger sister, Tessa, are forced to leave their home and live with their uncle. This, however, is not the end of their torturous journey. Their uncle hands them over to the Community House where they encounter horrendous torture and mistreatment, leaving both of them severely emotionally wounded. Juliana is later married to Logan, who is the heartthrob of the ton, together with his older brother Phillip, who happens to be a viscount. Their marriage is the talk of London and many people wait jealously for their union to fall apart, but things seem to be different this time for Logan. Saving Juliana by Gretchen Meyer is a story of a young couple’s tenacity, hope, and redemption. As their love grows, they discover parts of themselves they never knew existed.

Saving Juliana by Gretchen Meyer is many things in one. It is engaging, thought-provoking, and contains many magical moments. It feels like the book is composed of enthralling moments, not just scenes. Better still, Saving Juliana is set in a period that is captivating and romantic. Meyer’s knowledge of the period in which the story is set is portrayed through the language and the background of the story. The characters in Saving Juliana are strong and the roles they play suit each of them well. The fact that Logan and Juliana’s love story is not conventional gives the story a beautiful twist. Gretchen Meyer also incorporates thoughtful humor and funny twists in Saving Juliana. The pun contained in the title of the book was a good one! Overall, the story was lovely and I look forward to more of Gretchen Meyer’s work.
