If your child says they don’t like going to school, read School Is Great at Silver Gate by Linda Rönn. Big sister and little brother are ready for school, but when they arrive, they find the school’s name is missing. But there are clues, and it’s up to them to follow these and find the hidden letters. Perhaps the gator can help them, and so can you. Join the children and their friends as they navigate the school day, having fun, playing, finding the missing letters, and discovering just how much fun school can be.

School is Great by Linda Rönn is the perfect book to teach kids that, while school is essential, it’s also a fun place to be. The wonderful illustrations by Kajsa Hallström really help tell the story and show kids how to enjoy school, a place to learn to laugh and make friends, not just how to do math! The story is told in rhyme, making the words bounce off the pages and leading youngsters on an adventure. It encourages young readers to spot the missing letters on the pages, which helps enhance their concentration skills. At the end of the book are some useful exercises for children to help them learn their letters with fun and laughter, the best way to learn, in my opinion. This is a great book for helping kids learn and for helping them to see that going to school is not a punishment – it’s a place to enjoy, make friends, and learn valuable life skills.
