Karen Spruill’s Scribble Dee Sophie, A Story for Young Artists and Their Parents! is a cute story about a little girl named Sophie. Readers will get to follow her throughout her life, from beginning to scribble as a toddler to drawing pictures in school. Sophie has such a passion for drawing that it sometimes gets her into trouble, but she soon learns that her passion can be an attainable dream. Not only do we get to see this adorable little girl grow into a budding artist, but this book also provides useful information and tips to parents. Children and parents alike will absolutely enjoy this story about Sophie realizing her dreams of being an artist.
What I loved most about Scribble Dee Sophie was that all of the adults in little Sophie's life encouraged her to keep drawing because they saw that she had such a passion for it. They provided her with pencils and crayons, and they constantly told her how great her pictures were. I think it's so important that we support our children and encourage them to follow their dreams and pursue what they are passionate about. Plus, kids will enjoy not only the story but also the beautiful illustrations that are filled with vibrant colors. Parents will appreciate the informative descriptions of each scribble stage that children go through. I highly recommend this book to all children but especially those who show an interest in drawing. Karen Spruill did an amazing job, and I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I can’t wait to read it to my daughter as she grows up and begins to scribble. And thanks to the tips offered within the story, I now know how to clean those scribbles that happen to end up on my walls.
