In Shadows Gray, a beautiful novel by Melyssa Williams, Sonnet Gray and her family are lost, time travelers drifting through time with no control when or where they end up. Born in the eighteenth century (with her father born in the twelfth and her deceased mother in 1880), Sonnet has hopped through many time periods. When she finds herself in the 21st century, she is both thoroughly old-fashioned and yet more modern than any of the teens her age.

Unfortunately, tragedy has marred their time shifting little family with Sonnet's younger sister, Rose, being unable to come along during one of their jumps and possibly being lost in time forever. So Sonnet receives the shock of her life when, while working at a coffee shop, she sees a photo of a girl who looks exactly like her long-lost sister.

Hidden behind a beautiful, eye-catching cover, Shadows Gray is a gem of a novel filled with family ties, time travel, romance, and murder. It ends on a note that hopefully promises more in the future. One word is all that's needed to describe Shadows Gray - 'beautiful' from the cover to the title, and the soft, almost lyrical prose. Shadows Gray by Melyssa Williams had me completely enthralled, shocked at the appropriate moments, and excited. The only point that I experienced disappointment was when it ended and now I find myself bereft and in desperate need of a sequel.
