Author Biography

Author and poet Mary Jane Gonzales is a long-time sufferer of RSD/CRPS and has become an advocate for RSD awareness. She has previously written two memoirs about her life with RSD and is intent on raising awareness through telling her story and those of others.

The fifty RSD interviews in Sharing the Pain… The RSD Interviews by Mary Jane Gonzales guide the reader through the ins and outs of what it is like to live with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. Though it is often said that the disease is just in the patient’s head, these interviews make it very clear that it is most certainly more than just the imagination which debilitates these patients. The truth is revealed and understood from the viewpoint of those who suffer from this horrible disease. As the reader turns the pages in order to discover how each individual has suffered and survived, their strength and adaptability is clearly revealed in an astounding way. Mary Jane not only walks the reader through this series of interviews in an expert manner, but she includes several poems at the end which get at the emotions connected to this disease and gives the reader a deeper look at the reality that is RSD.

As a RSD sufferer, Mary Jane Gonzales knows the truth about RSD and how it manifests itself in the patient’s life. In her book, she has created an opportunity for others suffering from the disease or for those who live with a loved one who is or has suffered from RSD to understand and be encouraged by the stories of other sufferers. Honest, encouraging and emotionally charged, Sharing the Pain… The RSD Interviews is not only a helpful guide for obtaining information, but hits you on a deeper level of understanding that can only be gotten at by those who know it best.
