Set in a golfing residence at Prairie Winds, Shari's Shot revolves around former Mrs. Missouri, Shari Daniels-Donnelly, who earns a chance to win $1 million at America's greatest tournament, The Classic. She’s also on the road to getting a multimillion dollar divorce settlement from her husband, real estate mogul Tyler Cy Donnelly. When an ex lover is found shot to death in a carpool parking lot prior to a golf outing, Shari becomes a suspect and her easy goal to become rich and free from a boring marriage becomes complicated. Shari's Shot by James Ross is a murder mystery where one snooty woman becomes the catalyst for a number of unfortunate events.

Shari is definitely a protagonist that readers would love to hate. I’ve never seen or read about a person who is as narcissistic as she is. Some readers might find it a challenge to keep reading – you don’t want to meet a person like Shari in the real world. Her wayward ways are infuriating and entertaining at the same time. I feel sorry for Tyler Cy, but he could have been more assertive with Shari. The plot moves at a moderate pace. There are interesting twists and turns that I didn’t expect at all. Ross wraps up the story with an ending that still left me very surprised. I didn’t anticipate there would be such contradictions to some prior events. That said, the characters are colorful and there are comical moments, which I always appreciate. On the whole, Shari’s Shot is a light and enjoyable read.
