Somebody Save Me by H.I. Laryanne is a collection of Christian-based poetry written to evoke a response. Each poem is written in the textual reference of a biblical scripture. The author’s style is unique in the fact that she mixes the poetic expression from free verse into a range of others. This alone pulls the reader into the expression. The author skillfully added the right scriptures that summarize the illustrated poem. Each stanza is written with the right breath, a style which allows the reader to consider the words he or she has just read.
I loved the author’s style of writing. The description and rhythm hook you from page to page, as in the following poem, mimicking the title itself.
SOMEBODY SAVE ME
Here I am in the darkness
Alone in my seclusion
Hiding out, in my thoughts
Of emptiness and delusion
Loneliness waves over me
Like an endless, roaring sea
Depression, sadness, suicide
How I wish that I had died
O to be forever free
From this world's most hateful glee
Will someone, anyone, please
O somebody please save me
He which converteth the sinner from the error
of his way shall save a soul from death,

With each poem, there is a kind of melody that I found quite exquisite. You get a sense of the author’s passion in not only the poetic expression, but the essence behind the creation. Each expression will touch you in a different light and expose the truth of the subject in an easy going way. I would recommend this to anyone who loves inspirational, motivational, and Christian poetry.
