Something Happened Today: A Collection of the Unexpected by Paul E Kotz is a collection of eight true stories that underline values, hidden joys, the experience of meaning, each of them imbued with a lesson. These stories are inspired by the author's desire to leave something meaningful for his girls and the reader will discover a beautiful trend as they go from one short story to the next. They will discover the things that make the author come alive and what really matters to him. In a sense, these stories also underline the importance of simplicity and gratitude for small joys and successes.
While I found these stories entertaining and oftentimes humorous, I must acknowledge the impact they have on the reader, compelling the reader to learn to focus on what is positive and to unearth the miracles hidden in the mundane circumstances of daily life. These stories reflect the humanity of the author and are filled with realism. Some have powerful lessons on life, love, inner freedom, humanity, and happiness. They can be read as the author's gratitude journal or just for the sheer fun of experiences that readers can relate to from a unique perspective. The style is simple, engaging, and the economy of word makes each story a precious jewel. Paul E Kotz has a unique narrative voice, clear and powerful, and it is irresistible because of the author's refined sense of humor. Something Happened Today: A Collection of the Unexpected is a rare treat that invites readers to uncover the miracle of every day.
