Sophia Rising: Awakening Your Sacred Wisdom Through Yoga by Monette Chilson is a book that gives readers details about religion and God. The book seeks out the holistic image of God for all women and in this entire book God is referred to as 'She' instead of 'He'. The author handles the Christian perspective of yoga and how yoga can be beneficial in seeking God with a lot of knowledge and expertise. The book is a reflection of the author's discovery of God without any guises like the cross, religion, icons or robes, and her reconciliation of Christian faith and yoga.
The book gives readers details about yoga expansively and extensively. The author says that yoga is all about discovering the subtleties of our spirit and our own individual space in the universe. For the author, Sophia has become a way of accessing God and all that God has intended in the Bible. Yoga has become her way of connecting with God, unmediated by religion. The sayings and observations in the book are profound and they change the perspective of readers on God, religion and yoga. The holistic experience of yoga and its control over the mind, body and spirit is explained very well by the author, leaving no room for any doubts on that subject. The concepts and ideas in the book connect very well with readers. It helps them look at religion and yoga in a unique and positive way without intermingling both, yet at the same time finding a connection between both.
