Soul Seeker (Gehenna Series, Book 1) by Kaylin McFarren is an amazing story of actions and emotions, of right and wrong. There is a fine line between good and evil and this book demonstrates that perfectly. As the first book in a series, this one is guaranteed to hook you and you will be begging for book 2. It’s a different take on the supernatural genre, with romance, demons, angels, and more in the mix, a unique plot filled with dark, brooding action all the way. The characters are amazingly well developed and their stories emerge gradually through a series of dialogs that transport you into the dark underbelly of the supernatural world. With plenty of twists and turns along the way, this book will have you hanging on until the last page – I can’t wait to read book 2.

After successfully nabbing the soul of a desperate father, Crighton goes in search of his new victim and has orders from Lucifer to capture an Angel for him. However, he is not expecting to become a victim himself. Crighton and the Angel are captured by the Sovereign Sector, people who like to experiment on supernatural beings like them. They perform experiments that result in Crighton and the Angel forming a soulmate bond. But that is not what hell’s soul collector needs. It not only goes against what he is, but it also puts him under the wrath of Lucifer. Crighton knows that if he wants to survive, he needs to do something, but how? He would first have to get out of the clutches of the Sovereign Sector and he needs to get the Angel out of there too. Plus, Crighton needs to stay out of Lucifer’s reach. Can he do it all?

Sharp and descriptive, Soul Seeker is a thrilling novel that kept me on the edge of my seat. Readers will feel a surge of excitement as they read page after page of the intricate plot and brilliantly composed characters. Author Kaylin McFarren develops the characters at a steady pace that is not too fast or too slow. The writing style is crisp and clear; you can imagine the appearance of the characters in your head, hear their voices, and feel their desperation as they struggle to survive. The action is relentless in this story, and it just keeps on building up until the very last page. The background building is phenomenal, the universe building is believable and the writing style is very modern. It is a tremendous start to a new series, entertaining and fun until the end.
