Spread Love (and Buttercream!): Recipes and Reflections Where Love is the First Ingredient and a Sweeter World is Ours for the Baking by Coltan J. Schoenike with a contribution by Maria Cauley is an insightful and thought-provoking book where the author shares words of wisdom and lessons they learned from experiences in life along with baking recipes. This makes it an engaging and fulfilling book and it will satisfy the cravings of the heart, spirit, and body for many readers. This cookbook, apart from having delicious recipes, is also about self-love, self-acceptance, and will help many readers to challenge what they have been told all their lives. Reading this book will be a fun and joyful experience for all those who love baking and also for all those who are looking to transform their lives. Baking can be fun and this book will definitely take readers on some fascinating baking adventures coupled with different skill sets, tools, talents, understanding, and knowledge by laying a good foundation for all those who might require it.
The book is refreshingly original and Coltan J. Schoenike's approach to relevant topics on life and baking are innovative and interesting. The Terms, Tips, & Tricks, and Other Tips are quite helpful to all those who want to get into baking or try out new recipes easily and navigate through common issues that might come up while baking. The author also gives a wide variety of options when it comes to flour substitution. The book has been divided into three parts; Part I is about starting the foundation of self-love and compassion along with some fun recipes; Part II is about loving others; and Part III is about loving our way forward. I like the way the author seamlessly weaves in the basics of cupcake making with how readers can put more love and kindness into relationships and enhance the relationship they have with their own selves. The tips and techniques suggested in Spread Love (and Buttercream!) will go a long way in helping the world to become a sweeter place.
