Stealing Bellybuttons by Ollin Funn is the story of Eric, a charming boy who has a lot of ideas running around inside his mind. He gets dressed and decides to become Eric the Mischievous. He decides to steal all the bellybuttons in the world and begins by taking his own bellybutton and putting it in a large pillowcase with holes. He goes on to take the bellybuttons of his fish, cat, sister, toys, dolls, teddy bears and mother. He then goes to his father who teaches him the disadvantages of losing one's bellybutton. Will Eric realize his folly and decide to change from Eric the Mischievous to something else?
It's a cute little story of bonding, loving, giggles and laughter. Eric's character is adorable as he goes around stealing everyone's bellybuttons in the house, including the pets and toys. The illustrations are bright and colorful and they give movement and pace to the scenes. The pictures also breathe life into the characters. Parents and grandparents can read this book to kids and grandkids and it can also be used for read aloud sessions in classrooms and libraries. There is a lot of humor as Eric goes around stealing bellybuttons and the story will put a smile on the faces of young readers too. The bonding between Eric and his dad is worth a mention. Kids are introduced to new thoughts and concepts through the story. Kids can relate well to Eric and his mischievous behavior that results in him doing a lot of naughty things.
