Stellarlands #2 is the second installment in Max Ferrada's Stellarlands series. It follows Cal, a valiant human soldier stationed on the desert moon of Upentia. The soldiers and the local inhabitants maintain a tense coexistence, primarily due to the presence of the Acquisition Reps, a group of recruiters operating in the private sector. The recruiters employ methods that are widely criticized, as they often exploit the locals and buy out soldiers' military contracts. Their missions also require significant sacrifices. After witnessing a devastating attack and falling in love with a local girl, Cal comes to understand the profound impact that the universal war is having on everyone. When his friend is forcibly recruited by the Acquisition Reps, he makes a drastic decision to align himself with the group he once opposed, hoping to make a difference in the war and end the exploitation plaguing Upentia.

Stellarlands 2 delves into themes of sacrifice, love, and the pursuit of the greater good. The author effectively explores the human cost of conflict while introducing readers to concepts of space travel within an entertaining narrative. Cal is a charming and formidable character who embodies duty and empathy. His journey is marked by loyalty, bravery, and selflessness. The story addresses the complexities of military life, illustrating how deployed soldiers navigate their duties alongside their relationships with locals. It also examines the political dynamics between private organizations and the military and how these collaborations impact military operations. Ben Worrell's vibrant and dynamic art breathes life into the gritty landscapes of Upentia and captures the intense emotions of the characters. This artistic style complements Max Ferrada's engaging writing, characterized by natural dialogue and a thought-provoking plot. The Stellarlands comic series is an intriguing collection, and I look forward to future installments. Overall, this is an enjoyable read and a fantastic piece of work.
