I love Barbara Freeman's book "Super Smart Sugar". It definitely in a very subtle way attacks stereotypes by showing the kind and loving side of an America Pit Bull Terrier. Pit Bulls are often seen in a very bad light, but Sugar is seen in a fun and delightful light. This shows that dogs react to the love and positive attention that they are shown at home. Barbara engages children to take a look at their dogs in a different way and actually interact with them more. She has a very kind way of engaging children. It is a good read for them and other dog lovers and keeps the readers interest!

What an awesome book! Super Smart Sugar entails unique ways on how to discover just how smart your own dog may be. The author sheds much light on the stereotype of the American Pit Bull Terrier from her own experience with Sugar, their family pet. Don't be quick to judge one's pet just from where they may originate. Have an open mind to possibilities and the loving, caring nature an animal may possess. The techniques within the colorful illustrations can bring new meanings of your own pet's intelligence. A great book for children and animal lovers!!

I just finished reading Super Smart Sugar to my class. I had read the first book by Mrs. Freeman to them earlier. The students were super excited to have the second book follow. They have developed a real love for this pet and her family. They love animals at this age and have so many questions that go far beyond this simple story. A great opportunity to explore other life lessons with them as an extension of the story. Hope there are more.

What an awesome read!!!! I was able to read this book with my daughters as well as our new puppy. We found it intriguing as we were able to identify many of the "smart" characteristics in our own dog.

Super Smart Sugar is a wonderful read. People often overlook the intelligence of their pets. Sugar was a rare dog. Her love for people was amazing and she really did think visitors were there to see her. Mrs. Freeman does an awesome job of informing readers on how to tell if their dog is super smart. I purchased the book for my Kingston and Skylar and had to read it every night during their recent visit. Children of all ages will love this book.
