Dania Voss brings readers yet another delightful treat of contemporary romance with Sweet Surrender. Keeva Bradigan and Dustin "Dusty" Hunter were high school sweethearts who went their separate ways due to a cruel twist of fate. Now, twenty-four years later, the two kindred souls meet unexpectedly during the Missing Man Table Ceremony organized by the Turner family in Cascade Springs, Texas. Keeva is a single mother of a thirteen-year-old son, Finn, while Dusty is a former Army Ranger trying his hand at managing real estate properties in Cascade Springs. Soon, the old sparks renew, and Dusty and Keeva fall in love again. Dusty also forms a close bond with Finn. However, Keeva's ex-husband, Liam, continues to be a thorn in her side.
Sweet Surrender is a beautiful story about a second chance at love. Dania Voss never misses the mark with her tales of romance, and this one is no different. A character-driven romance drama at its heart, the narrative just breezes past and leaves you wanting more. The author introduces her main characters quite early on, allowing readers to get to know them and their backstories within the first couple of chapters. I also found the setting of Cascade Springs to be very immersive, and the secondary characters add much charm to the story. Dusty and Keeva feel like real people who have met after a long time and fallen in love again. I loved the dynamic between Dusty and Finn. All in all, this is another excellent book for readers of contemporary romance.
