Meet the ladies of the Sweetgum Knit Lit Society: Eugenie is the pastor’s wife, librarian and the leader, Camille is in her 20s, Hannah is the youngest at 15, Merry is a wife and mother, Esther is a widow facing financial hardships and Maria. In the latest book the ladies are discussing romance. Of course each has a different perspective of love depending on their experiences.
As I was reading this book I was reminded of small group ministry. A group of people usually of the same gender, get together to study, fellowship and hold each other accountable. There is usually a common bond, in this case knitting and reading. Who wouldn’t want to join in a small group with these engaging ladies.
When I pick up a one of Beth Pattillo’s books I know I am going to be entertained. The latest in this series is The Sweetgum Ladies Knit for Love. While her books are light reading they always have a message. This book stands well alone. Patillo’s characters have flaws just like real people. Knit for Love is easy to read and quite enjoyable.
