A delightful read that is sure to get you laughing, Swimming with the Fishes by Marc Jedel is an Ozarks Lake Mystery. Elizabeth has been adjusting to some changes but things are looking up with building their new home and starting the next chapter of their life. An explosion involving her husband shakes her to her core and sends her into a new mystery once her best friend is accused of murder. Knowing how it feels to be accused, she refuses to let her friend go down for something she didn't do. Teaming up with her husband, they set out to find clues and stir up a bit of drama as they search for answers and draw the attention of a killer.
The story begins with a bang and an immediate action-packed scene with a smoldering wreck explored through two different perspectives. Marc Jedel has a flair for details that create visuals such as the harsh sound of sirens breaking the town's early morning serenity. The phrases accentuate the setting and the characters make you feel right at home with their word choices. The mystery is lighthearted with a tone that draws you in from the outset. The two voices have amazing attitudes that are woven into the first-person perspectives alternating between Jonas and Elizabeth. Jedel uses these different viewpoints to craft details that separate the two perspectives. Jedel makes the most of a great setting and dialogue in Swimming with the Fishes to create another humorous treat with an authentic tone, story, and characters.
