The ambassador for the fairy folk of Weirderland needs the siblings to find the Pari that started the fire centuries ago. When their grandfather falls severely ill, the siblings venture underground, searching for the dwarves' alchemist guild. On separate quests, Cael learns a lesson in temperance while Iris realizes who she is.

Author Kyle Steenblik's worldbuilding is immersive and fantastical, featuring fairies, dragons, winged horses, and other magical creatures. As the stories follow the same characters, readers see the growth of the main protagonists. In the first story, Cael and Iris are still young children, but by the end of the book, they are teenagers who have gone through their own journeys of self-discovery. Apart from the siblings, I also enjoyed the characters of River and the king and queen. I loved all the tales, with "A Hopeless Quest" being my favorite of the bunch. All in all, this is an absorbing collection of short stories for children.
