Temporary Insanity (Mental Moments Book 1) by Fitz Allgood is a short horror story. What could possibly cause a person to go on a sudden killing spree? A teacher, no less, on his way to school. It was nothing, just another driver who didn’t use his blinker, but it was enough for “the teach” to suddenly see red, to decide that lessons must be learned this morning. And who better to teach the lessons than a teacher himself. It’s a hot day and nobody is aware of what is about to happen. Drivers, oblivious to the world around them, are wiped out. Jaywalkers never make it across the road. The violence grows as the heat increases. In rush hour traffic, who would ever notice a bump here or a knock there. A pedestrian gets knocked over. It’s all par for the course as the teacher wends his murderous way toward the school and his next lesson.
Temporary Insanity (Mental Moments Book 1) by Fitz Allgood was something a little different. It’s an ideal book for those readers who don’t really want a full-on horror story but enjoy a shiver down the spine, a story about a man who goes completely off the rails for no real reason. The story is there, the principles behind it are sound, and it is certainly a believable tale. I’m sure it happens almost every day, although maybe not on such levels. By the end of the book, I had gotten to know the teacher very well and, in terms of character development, I cannot fault the author. I did enjoy the plot and the ending was certainly not something I saw coming so, credit where it's due - not many writers can take a reader to the end of a book to a totally unexpected conclusion. The book clipped along at a fair pace so it’s ideal for those who like something short, sharp and fast to read. If there is going to be a book 2, I would be interested in reading it.
