Everything we know is wrong, and there is so much more in the universe than anyone could ever have imagined in The 9th Colony by Colin Curtis. Simon Chambers was on his way to work like any other day, except this time, he was abducted by a strange craft along with other humans. It turns out Earth is one of nine colonies comprising various humanoid species, each with distinct abilities and features. It is up to Simon and his new comrades to fight for their planet using the new knowledge and technology they've acquired.

The 9th Colony by Colin Curtis is such a unique and interesting book that takes a look at the possibilities of what is out there in the universe. Playing on the possibilities of other lifeforms existing and how they relate to our world is something many writers have touched on before, but Curtis has put his own twist on the matter. The colonies each have some special ability or have more advanced technology than Earth, which really showed the amount of creativity put into the concept. I really enjoyed that the resistance had to be resourceful to make up for their shortcoming in comparison to the other beings. It really allowed for so much character growth and showed each character's strengths and weaknesses. The book's pacing was well done, with each new bit of information being given at the perfect moment to allow the reader to understand what was happening while leaving a few surprises for the end. The 9th Colony was an enjoyable book, and I would definitely recommend it.
