Jeffrey C. Brown's Handicaptive follows the story of a man fed up with people trying to cheat the disabled parking privilege system. Marc Hadley is depressed. He lost his loving father to chronic cystic fibrosis, and every day he has to deal with disabled parking frauds who try to game the system. After getting a job at the MVC, Marc falls in love with a beautiful Afghan War vet and marries her. However, tragedy strikes, and his wife dies in an accident caused by one of those parking frauds. Fuelled by rage and revenge, Marc starts kidnapping parking frauds and amputating their body parts so they become disabled. An unexpected chain of events leads him to marry the lead detective in the case. Meanwhile, an investigative reporter is now on his trail.

Packed with suspense and intrigue, Handicaptive is a thrilling tale of vigilante justice gone wrong. It's a story about an anti-hero who is pushed to his limits until he becomes a psychopath with a misplaced sense of social justice and self-righteousness. Jeffrey C. Brown has crafted a gripping narrative that lets the reader see the world from the antagonist's perspective. Borrowing elements from sleuth mystery and psychological thriller genres, the author spins an engrossing yarn that has you rooting for a man who amputates people's limbs for parking violations. Marc's worldview is very twisted, shaped by the events in his life. Yet, you can't help but sympathize with him. I liked how his vendetta against Goodall was resolved toward the end. If you enjoy stories about serial killers/criminals, this will be right up your alley!
