Welcome to Camp C.R.E.A.T.E. where wild imaginations turn into awesome inventions. The Awesome, Impossible, Unstoppable Gadget by Kevin Kelly and Rebecca Kelly is a fun, rollicking ride. Trixie O'Toole is writing a letter to her mom, telling her about her experiences at Camp C.R.E.A.T.E. The highlight of the camp is the Gadgets Galore Competition, in which she is excited to participate. Of course, she is up against some fierce competition. He's been dubbed "Professor" Von Junk, and all the other campers give up on their projects to help him. Trixie uses her ingenuity not only to build herself a lab but also to create a fantastic machine. The competition is on, but who will win? Things sometimes turn out differently than you expect them to!
Kevin Kelly and Rebecca Kelly have crafted an outstanding picture book in The Awesome, Impossible, Unstoppable Gadget. Trixie is a go-getter but still experiences moments of self-doubt. An important lesson for kids to learn is that life won't always go your way, but you can continue to pursue your dreams. As a retired children's librarian, I love that the rhymes flow effortlessly off the pages, which makes for a perfect read-aloud. The illustrations are vibrant, detailed, and an integral part of the story. I love Trixie with her pigtails and safety goggles. The pictures are so full of action that kids will feel like they are watching a movie. The Kelly team incorporates girl power, stem concepts, and pure fun in The Awesome, Impossible, Unstoppable Gadget. I highly recommend it to everyone!
