The Black Swans: A Tale of the Antrim Cycle by N.W. Moors is a fascinating book that revolves around Taisie MacDonnell and Conn McLaren. Taisie is excited when a Celtic music group moves to her town of Antrim. Her Irish grandparents bring her up with stories based on Irish tales and legends. She meets Conn at a local festival one weekend where he is working at a yarn store booth. The attraction is instant, but then what awaits her is not what she expects. She finds herself pulled into a secret surrounding Conn and his family as she gets close to him. There is a big curse on the family - will Taisie be able to help Conn and his family break the curse?
Readers see Taisie being thrust into Irish mythology to save Conn and his family from the curse surrounding them. It's a story of true love where readers are made to feel how true love transcends everything. The story takes readers through elemental forces, hidden folks, secret worlds and much more as the story progresses. It is a love story that all lovers of Celtic mythology will enjoy. The contemporary yet at the same time ancient feel to the plot makes it fresh and appealing.
The characters are portrayed and developed well. The locations are magical and the combination of myth and romance adds to the appeal of the story. It's an enjoyable romance that will make readers fall in love with Ireland, the Irish mythology and folklore.
