Fasten your seatbelts and embark on an action-packed space opera adventure with The Blackheart. Written by Thom Bedford, this absorbing tale follows the crewmembers of the Blackheart -- a battleship cruiser of the Combined Systems Alliance under the command of Captain Felysta Sandorn. After barely surviving an explosion at the Exeter Station, Captain Felsyta and her crew suddenly find themselves on a mission to repel the pirates of the Wan-Nakhon system. Meanwhile, rumors about the Free Planetary Union circulate. As the Blackheart and the rest of the Alliance fleet arrive near Keasom, Felysta realizes something is amiss. There are no pirates to be seen. Instead, the system is filled with outdated Alliance ships. As Felysta and her crew unwittingly walk into an ambush, a fierce battle breaks out. Who is behind this grand conspiracy?

The Blackheart is tailor-made for fans of sci-fi space opera like Star Trek or The Expanse. Filled with action, suspense, and intrigue, this gripping novella takes the reader on an absolute rollercoaster of a ride. Author Thom Bedford doesn't waste a single word and spins a captivating yarn that has you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last. The characters are compelling and layered, none more so than the main protagonist, Captain Felysta, and her XO, Jameson. The narrative continues to build up tension and suspense until it concludes in a thrilling and explosive climax. You can feel the stakes during the action sequences. The ending hints at more books to come from this saga. I'm eagerly looking forward to reading them. Space opera fans shouldn't miss out on this!
