Author Biography

I used to have a turbulent brain. This was the impetus to write about my journey toward a calmer life. I found that clarity, compassion, and choice were important aspects of the calmness I was seeking—more clarity, more compassion for others and myself, and the ability to make wiser choices. Along with my stories are quotes and stories from coaching clients and friends, research, illustrations, poetry, and awareness tools to help bring more calm into your life. I hope you'll be moved to read the book from this review!

I advocate calm as a Professional Certified Coach, author, blogger, and workshop leader. My expertise is supporting people through the inevitable shifts of personal and professional transitions, while celebrating their resiliency, spirit, and wisdom. The Book of Calm: Clarity, Compassion, and Choice in a Turbulent World by Nancy G. Shapiro is a book that offers readers the tools they need to achieve the one thing that has evaded many people — inner freedom. In this book, transition expert Shapiro offers an easy to navigate road map to make the shifts that add meaning and fulfillment to life, the passage from anxiety to serene confidence when it comes to making life-changing decisions and handling the challenges that come along every day. Readers will learn to break the habits that limit their potential, face the fears that make them utterly vulnerable, and arm themselves with what it takes to move ahead in life, to make choices with clarity, and to connect deeply with themselves and with others.

In her chatty, ebullient and engaging voice, Nancy G. Shapiro weaves personal and inspiring stories into this book, pulling readers in to look at the world from her perspective and compelling them to see the reality they could deny in another context. As I read this book, I felt connected with its message and the voice behind it. The author asks important questions and does more than provide answers; she provokes readers to find their own answers. The Book of Calm: Clarity, Compassion, and Choice in a Turbulent World is a very relevant book and the context isn’t misleading. The writing is laced with powerful insights, professional advice, and inspiring stories that are life-changing. The author's popular style of writing with its wonderful phraseology makes for a great read. This book is very accessible to the ordinary reader with the message that most of us need in today’s challenging, fast-paced environment.
