The Case Against Jasper by Clifton Wilcox is a delightful story set on Wildwoods Farm, a peaceful community of forest animals. The peace is disturbed when Jenny, a playful young squirrel, falls while racing her best friend, Jasper, on a telephone pole. The gossiping hens start spreading rumours, accusing Jasper of Jenny's murder, and in no time, the whole farm believes he is guilty. Feeling sad, Jasper stays away from everyone. Fiona, a clever cat, and Ink, a ferret with sharp eyes, decide to find out what really happened. But as they dig deeper, the simple story everyone believed starts falling apart.

What I enjoyed most in The Case Against Jasper was how Clifton Wilcox used animals as characters, which made reading it even more exciting. The storyline was well-built and unpredictable, keeping my attention until the last page. The pacing was smooth and steady, allowing me to enjoy every moment. I admire how Clifton used Jasper's character to illustrate personality change. Before Jenny died, Jasper was gentle, kind, and soft-spoken. But after being accused of his best friend's death, he became withdrawn and quiet. Clifton beautifully demonstrated how other people's opinions can affect a person's behavior. Fiona and Ink brought a nice touch of adventure in their search for clues while solving the mystery behind Jenny's death. This book highlights the themes of forgiveness, justice, and the dangers of gossip. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves animal stories and appreciates a good book filled with mystery and adventure!
