Comerford uses his own experience as an ex-smoker in order to help his readers quit cold turkey. By looking at the concept of quitting smoking as though you are on a venture quest in which you are face-to-face with a crafty and determined enemy, the reader is given a challenge and plenty of tools to help fight off the horrible beast. On a day-by-day basis, Comerford tells the reader what to expect for the day concerning cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and psychological attacks that come at various periods throughout the process. Drawing upon his personal thoughts, feelings, and physiological responses, Comerford prepares the reader to face each challenge with the sheer will power and determination of one who refuses to give up on their quest until they have met their goal. All the while, the author gives regular encouragement to keep them on track.
