The Cost of Living by Daisy DeMay is an extraordinary thriller. Sara and Kyle met at school and were married. Over time Kyle became highly abusive and manipulated Sara. She did everything in her power to keep Kyle happy and lost her identity in the process. During a storm, Sara sought refuge in her basement, and the house was destroyed. After the worst was over, Sara went to look for her children at school. The school had been demolished, and Sara's whole world was torn apart when she tracked her children down. During Sara's struggle to move on with her life and to survive, she met Sam and Adam. The two men gave her hope for the future and the courage to leave her past behind.

The Cost of Living is intriguing and complicated. Daisy DeMay took me on a journey of hope and love during dark times. It was a page-turner, and the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. The story was fast-paced, and with all the action, I never knew what to expect. The characters were brilliantly developed, and the three main characters stood out. Sara was my favorite. She dared to put her past behind her and fight for the future, despite her loss. The major twist at the end pulled my feet out from under me. It was so unexpected and took the storyline in a completely different direction that had me hooked. This thriller will stay with me for a long time.

I devoured this novel in a few hours. The story is captivating and kept me guessing. Even as I have turned the last page, my mind is still processing the unexpected twist. Without giving away any of this complex story, all I can safely say is wow. I wonder what Daisy DeMay has in store for her next novel?
