The Creature Behind You by Sam Kuban is quite an exciting read that will make young readers wonder about the noises they hear and the shadows they see. The creature follows behind as you creep down the stairs and its voice is the creaking of the doors one hears when it is being shut. The creature pinches the tails of the mice and the rats, and Mom and Dad cannot see it when they look for it. The creature steals single socks and drops loose nails on the floor. This book will get readers interested in reading poetry with its wonderful imagery.
The book is a fun read, eerie, spooky and filled with humor that will captivate readers. The illustrations are excellent and they make the experience of reading the poem even more wonderful. It's a good bedtime storybook to read out to children at night and it is also a good book for read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries. The words are effective and will make readers turn to the next page quickly to learn what is going to happen next.
It's a poem that generates a lot of interest within readers and it will make them linger not only on the words but also on the pictures.
