In the upscale neighborhood of Palm Beach, Hollywood’s beloved superstar Ruby Russell has been found hanging from the balcony of her mansion, naked and dead. Lieutenant Walker of the Palm Beach Police Homicide Department wastes no time probing for answers. Soon, he brings on board Lester Caine, a former NYPD homicide detective turned PI, to help uncover the cause of the movie star’s sudden death. Forensic analysis and the autopsy results strongly suggest Ruby was murdered. As Lester and Walker coordinate the investigation, they find themselves chasing the trail of a murderer from the beaches of Florida to the west coast in the heart of Hollywood. But first, they have to get through a web of deceit, media frenzy, criminal networks, and danger lurking in the shadows. Who murdered Ruby and why? Find out in Fred Berri’s The Dark Side of the Moon.

If you are looking for a mystery murder and sleuth novel blended with romantic intrigue, crime, and drama, Fred Berri’s The Dark Side of the Moon is a perfect pick. Weaving an intriguing plot, Berri brings the scenes to life on the pages with colorful, evocative depictions. It felt like I was next to the cast in every scene, closely following them. Berri treated me to edge-of-the-seat suspense and jaw-dropping plot twists that hooked me. I could not stop turning page after page to discover what was coming next. The sharp, upbeat, witty, and tense conversations gave depth to the cast’s conflicts, emotions, and complex traits. Accompanied by an introspective voice, these allowed me to connect with them. Savvy, hardboiled, hawk-eyed, and methodical Lester is nothing like your typical gumshoe. He might get a little help from tarot cards or get lost in the arms of his many women. But he will always get the job done.
