What would you do if you could live your life over? What changes would you make? They’re the questions Diana Penn asks herself at 80 years old, when an unexploded WWII bomb goes off, sending her back in time to 1944. She opens her eyes in the bedroom of her host’s house in a British village called Cheviot Hills, where she spent time as part of the Women’s Land Army. As she navigates her time again, she attempts to right wrongs and save lives. As a retired MI6 agent, her first life was one spent mostly alone and with little room for relationships. This time around, she’s determined to do things differently. Is it really possible to ‘do over’ your life and change things for the better? The Deadly Life of Diana Penn by Shawn Inmon and Kirsten McKenzie answers that question.

I went into this book not knowing anything about the Middle Falls Universe, only to discover later that there are currently 23 books in the series. I plan to go back and read them. Shawn Inmon partnering with Kirsten McKenzie for this book is a literary match made in heaven. The Deadly Life of Diana Penn can be read as a standalone, and I highly recommend it. The underlying message is that if you’re a good person who does good deeds, you’ll be rewarded. There was so much good in this book, my heart must have doubled in size by the end—I laughed, I gasped, and boy did I cry. There’s no swearing, nor any sex scenes (only suggested ones), so it would appeal to an audience from tweens to twilights. I loved this book so very much and can’t wait for the next one in the series.
