Baz the Bravest Smallest Chinchilla by Christina Goldberg is the story of a small, furry chinchilla who lived in the enchanted Willowbark Woods. Baz was the smallest animal in the woods, which made him rather unhappy. All the other animals who lived in the woods -- the deer, the fox, and even the rabbits -- also seemed to be braver than he was. Then one day, Sprout the frog decided he wanted to go tree climbing, and climbed all the way to the top of the Great Oak Tree. But once he reached the top, Sprout couldn’t get down again. Nor could any of the animals help him -- the deer, the fox, and the rabbits couldn’t climb. So little Baz pulls his courage together and begins climbing to save his friend.

Baz the Bravest Smallest Chinchilla is a delightful story that kids and parents will love for their read-aloud sessions. Baz is not only the smallest chinchilla; he’s also one of the cutest heroes seen in picture books. Christina Goldberg’s words flow smoothly and match the illustrations of the lovely woods, valleys, and rolling hills. The question Baz asks himself, “Can someone as small as me ever be brave?” is one that many children must have faced. This book will help them find the answer and learn that caring for others is a secret power. It will help them gain confidence in themselves, and to believe that they can do things that seemed difficult if they really put their minds to it. Highly recommended for families with preschoolers, and for kindergartens, libraries, and as a birthday or holiday gift.
