Author Biography

Richard B. Dwyer came into this world sometime before the first man landed on the moon. His father, Lt.Col. William Richard Dwyer was long retired from the army and thirty years older than his mother. His parents met and married in Las Vegas and were in the Bay Area chasing the ponies when Richard was born. Richard’s birth certificate has a home address on Fremont Street in Vegas.

The family left Vegas one night to escape the threat of bodily harm due to gambling debts. They moved to Miami and then to Tampa where Richard graduated from T. R. Robinson High School.

At 17, Richard enlisted in the Marines
and two weeks after graduation Richard found himself at the front gate of Parris Island, SC wondering what the hell had he gotten himself into. Ten years later Richard had moved up in the ranks, and while attending the Artillery Officer Basic course, he discovered he had a talent for writing after achieving a perfect score on a military book review assignment.

Leaving active duty, Richard served in the Marine Corps Reserve as an infantry officer and in the Nevada Army National Guard as an armor officer. The funny thing is that after serving in three combat arms branches in two services, Richard never saw a shot fired in anger. On the plus side, he doesn’t suffer from PTSD and still has all of his body parts.

The Demon Pool is Richard’s debut novel.

The Demon Pool by Richard B. Dwyer is a supernatural/paranormal novel. The novel follows Jim Demore. He was a U.S. Marine once, but now he works as a Florida Highway Patrol Investigator. He has no idea that he will encounter an ancient demonic power. Turns out this is the demonic power behind the Fountain of Youth and if it is left to roam with unsuspecting humans, things could go terribly wrong. This demon is called Baalzaric; it has amazing power and intelligence. Once it exits the confines of the water body, it can increase the life of his hosts to 150 and more.

The only thing standing between him and innocent people is Jim Demore. Baalzaric’s current host is a beautiful woman named Kat Connors, a lab technician by day and a dancer at night. She is working for a company dedicated to life extension. If Jim is not careful, things can go incredibly wrong for him and everyone, but especially for Kat.

The Demon Pool sounded very much like Deadpool. I was not expecting it to be this different. I was expecting this to be a generic horror fiction, but it was so much more than that. Dwyer did a great job in building up the tension, suspense, and the thrill. I loved Kat and Jim, they were the perfect contrast. Jim was strong and resilient and I loved the fact that he never backed down from the challenge. He was a man of honor through and through. I loved it and I loved this novel. It was great.
