The Electric Detective is a murder mystery by E. E. King. Eddie Evers was a private investigator who could distinguish between the innocent and the guilty simply by analyzing their electrical output. While on a case, Eddie was struck by lightning and knocked out for almost fifteen hours. After the accident, Eddie saw everything in black and white and had glimpses into other times and places. After Eddie's discharge from the hospital, a cat follows him into his house, and for some unexplained reason, Eddie knows it's a male cat and his name is Max. When a four-year-old boy disappears from a small daycare, Eddie is called in to help with the investigation in case he might see something others have overlooked.
The Electric Detective was exceptional and very interesting. E.E. King wove the paranormal, mystery, and murder together so that everything felt realistic. The twists and turns in the story ensured enough action to keep it interesting until the end. I could not turn the pages fast enough; I was too afraid I was going to miss something. The characters were eccentric and authentic, and I could relate to them. Eddie’s gift and how he handled it were so much a part of him that they were not out of the ordinary. With Eddie, I put together the pieces of the puzzle of his past to make sense of what was happening in the present. It is an extraordinary story of a man with a unique gift that he uses for good. This story will stay with me for a long time.
