The Emperor's Treaty by Chacelyn Pierce is about two races that were about to destroy themselves with war because of a bloodthirsty emperor that started the hatred between the two races. Shann is a Moekan princess who will wed Arryn, emperor of the Elves. Thanks to the hatred the elves have for the Moekans, there is animosity and hatred when Shann marries Arryn to cement the peace treaty that the two nations have come up with. One group takes their blood lust and hatred so far to set up Shann so that the fighting between the two nations will continue. Arryn believes the lies and plays right into the traitor's hands and gives cause for the destructive feud to continue. Fighting starts but can Shann end it before too much damage is done to either side?
The Emperor's Treaty by Chacelyn Pierce is well written with strong imagery. The story is unique with unique characters and there was a feel that they were real people from a different world. The characters develop quickly, but with reason that makes sense. There are no time leaps or random jumps in the story that never get explained or that make no sense. The Emperor's Treaty is an awesome story that could have been made longer with more plot and detail, but it stands as it is perfectly. I just wish it had been a little longer as it was an enjoyable read that I didn't want to end. I will definitely be on the lookout for the next book in the series and for any other books by Chacelyn Pierce.
